Werner Heisenberg was born in W√ºrzburg, Germany in 1901. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in physics in 1932 for establishing the field of quantum mechanics. This discovery later aided the Manhattan Project in determining the amount of fissionable material that would be needed to produce a chain reaction.
